Research and Development of Renewable Energy Technologies
|
The Nordic Folkecenter For Renewable Energy is an independent, nongovernmental organization, whose aim it is to pave the way for renewable energy and energy savings by developing, testing and demonstrating technologies, designed for manufacturing in small and medium scale industries.
The centre operates a wind turbine test site, where 10-12 small scale turbines are currently tested and measured. In addition to this, the centre has developed, and owns, its own 40 meter tall turbine, which it will be possible to climb.
The turbine is situated on the North West coast of Jutland (approx 1 hours drive from the centre). It is relatively easy to climb the turbine and the view from the top is worth the effort.
In addition to visiting the test station and the privately owned wind turbine, visitors will also get an on-site guided tour of The Nordic Folkecenter, meet the staff and see full-scale solar and hydrogen energy systems.
Together, these systems serve as a model for the sustainable development of communities.

Denmark is the undisputed leader in wind energy - a fact that is visually demonstrated by the vast number of wind turbines that dot the Danish countryside like gigantic pinwheels.
The Green Belt Area is home to the world’s largest supplier of wind power systems, Vestas Wind Systems A/S and Siemens Wind Power. The area also contains the largest concentration of wind turbines in Denmark.
