The Larch Garden

Bold, innovative and extraordinary eco dwellings

Solar collectors and passive solar design is often incorporated into zero energy houses to create real sustainable dwellings. This type of intelligent design keeps the houses warm and cosy in winter and cool and comfortable in summer, with little or no use of heating or cooling appliances.

Visitors will get the chance to visit the Larch Garden in Aarhus, which consists of 50 one- and two-storied family houses/flats with beautiful wooden facades and wonderful verandas.

A characteristic common to these dwellings is the use of passive solar heating solutions such as:

  • Solar walls for the pre-heating of cold ventilation air
  • Sunrooms
  • Atria
  • Double glass facades
  • Expansive window sections et cetera

A great amount of attention has also been focused on the indoor thermal climate and light.

The dwellings exemplify excellence in architecture and
incorporate the latest sustainable principles and technologies. They are managed by Ringgaarden Housing Association.

Ringgaarden is known as being a green and environmentally conscious housing association that builds bold, innovative and extraordinary dwellings that are financially accessible to all population groups, regardless of income.

Did you know that every hour of the day, the sun showers the earth with more energy than the world’s entire population consumes in a whole year?
