Braedstrup District Heating Plant

The world’s 3rd largest solar panel plant

Braedstrup District Heating Plant runs the world’s 3rd largest solar collector system for heating - which was officially inaugurated in August 2007.

The solar panel plant has an area of 8,000 m² and it is expected to produce 4,000 MWh per year, which corresponds to 10% of the yearly heat production from Braedstrup District Heating Plant, and a yearly CO2 reduction of no less than 4300 tons.

The Braedstrup Plant is the world’s 3rd largest solar panel plant and it is, in fact, the world’s largest solar combined heat and power plant.

The combination of solar power collection and traditional heat and power generation is very beneficial – not only to the environment (lower CO2 emissions) but also to the end consumers in the form of reduced heating costs.

Visitors will get an on-site guided tour of the premises, meet the manager and get a general introduction to solar energy and its potential.

Did you know that Denmark is one of the leading countries in implementing solar thermal installations that transform the light energy from the sun into electric energy?

This is visually demonstrated by the number of large solar power plants that can be found across the country.
